So before I accidentally deleted it I made this really good argument for how our parents tend not to understand the recent surge in vinyl buying. I put it to them like this:
In the 60′s and 70′s we they of course did not have the convenience of either buying in-line or just going down to a Virgin mega store to purchase whatever album they wanted. They had to go to the effort of driving sometimes across counties to get what they wanted and since you can’t just copy over a vinyl to another one in the comfort of your own home you kept it close to the vest because it had value in many ways not just monetary. We as a generation can just download, torrent, use iTunes shop, or rip it from a friend who currently has it.
So the value of music declines sharply, and the interest in album art goes along with it since most of the time people don’t have CD’s. Let us not forgot the all important hisses and pops that are indicative of the vinyl ecperience. This morning on the show I played my Led Zeppelin 2 vinyl (THe Lemon Song) and although my file on my iPod is probably better sounding, it is never the same.
Also dear friends, I am using the lab at the studio to play over the interwebs, check it out sometime for the Hell of it, it’s or way of moving with the internet age and it streams beautifully so my credit to the staff for making it work.
